Statement:

Hello and Go Cougs!

My name is Felix Moran. After 17 years away from college, I returned to WSU as a DDP student in January 2008. I have been thoroughly enjoying my return to school full-time. I feel very privileged to serve as one of your student government senators!

I currently live on Camano Island, Washington with my two kids, Patrick (age 11) and Emily (age 8). After 15 years as a law enforcement officer and administrator, the opportunity presented itself for me to return to school to complete my degree and I jumped at the chance. I have met and worked with a great number of new people here at school and enjoy all that I learn from those interactions.

In my capacity as a law enforcement administrator (I was a police chief for seven years), I represented the interests of a wide variety of people, including the mental health community, child welfare advocates, law enforcement officers, and Native Americans. I served as Vice President of the Northwest Association of Tribal Enforcement Officers, Vice Chairman of the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission's Board on Law Enforcement Training Standards and Education, and am currently the President of the Washington Critical Incident Stress Management Network. I have received service awards from several groups, including the Elks Club, as well as the Northwest Tribal Court Judges' Association.

Just as I have represented the needs and concerns of those various groups, I also represent the needs and concerns of DDP students in their student government. My student experience in returning to school as a DDP student has been very rewarding and I am quickly finding the experience of being a member of student government equally rewarding. I look forward to helping other DDP students enjoy a rewarding learning experience as well. I serve on the Diversity Committee, the Election Committee, the Public Relations/Recruitment Committee, and the ASWSU Scholarship Committee. If I can help you with any of these student government functions at WSU, please ask!

If you have any questions or comments, or just would like a fellow student to chat with, feel free to email me at garda_600@wsu.edu. I look forward to hearing from you!
