Statement:
Hello! I am Gail Langseth, your ASWSU-DDP Treasurer for the 2009-2010 school year.
I live in Tacoma, Washington and am a mother of one daughter and three stepdaughters. I have one granddaughter, three grandsons, and one more on the way. I have been married for 11 years and for the last ten years, I have been working full time in our family's environmental-construction company as bookkeeper/secretary/estimator. Prior to working in the construction industry, I spent 18 years as a legal secretary and administrative assistant in the Washington State Attorney General's Office (AGO).
I am excited to be a member of the ASWSU DDP student body. The Distance Degree Program provides a unique opportunity for students like me to pursue a higher education degree when life commitments keep us from attending the traditional classroom. But even with the independent nature of DDP participation and the incredibly busy lifestyle of all distance learning students, we are an integral part of the community that is WSU. As a member of this community, I want to experience all it has to offer.
I am an enthusiastic advocate for education and believe that it opens up many more opportunities for us to advance within the work force and enhances our understanding of the world we live in. I believe my unique combination of experiences - native Tacoman, former employee of a large public agency, and my experience in private industry - combined with my enthusiasm for education allows me to bring a balanced perspective to student government.
I am pleased to represent your interests within this forum and I hope that you will feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. I am excited to be part of such a dynamic organization and I hope to interact with many of you in class, at school-sponsored events, or in committees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at the student government website or via email at gail.langseth@email.wsu.edu.
Good luck this year and happy studying!
